How To Use

Step 1: Mounting
It just takes minutes to mount Wixey Planer Digital readout to your planer.

The readout assembly attaches directly
to your planers side cover or existing
scale using super strong foam adhesive strips.
The mounting bracket attaches using the existing scale pointer screws.


Step 2: Calibrating

Calibration is quick and easy and requires no extra measuring device.

Cut any board until top surface is smooth. The actual thickness does not matter.
Lift the spring loaded scale and place the board underneath.
With the board held in place press and hold CAL button 3 seconds until "0.00" appears.

Step 3: Planing

After calibration, the display shows the distance from the planer bed to the tip of the knives which is also the thickness of the board coming out the back of your planer.

Advanced Uses

Measuring the thickness of a board:

Push INC button to set "0.00"
Lift the spring loaded scale and place the board underneath.
Display shows the thickness of the board.

Removing a precise amount of material:

You can accurately remove a precise amount of material using the "incremental" mode.

After planing a layer off the board
Push the INC button to set to "0.00"
Turn the crank to lower the cutter head until the precise amount of material to be removed is displayed.

Zeroing the cutter head

Setting the cutterhead at the precise thickness of a board
Place a board of unknown thickness under the spring loaded scale.
With the board in place crank the cutter head up or down until the display reads "0.00"
Running the board through the planer now will just skim the top surface of the board.
