Soveriegn System Handles

Sovereign handle system for woodturners. Like all other Robert Sorby products it is made in Sheffield to the most exacting engineering standards. Sovereign is the name of the interchangeable handle which comes in three lengths - 12", 16" and 22". The handles are made of aluminum and alloy in combination to give the best of strength, balance and vibration dampening qualities. Each handle comes with a durable Softex grip for extra comfort. Additional knurling provides a further non-slip surface. All three handles will take turning chisels with a 5/8" diameter shaft. Also included are 3/8" and 1/2" collets to accept tools with those diameters thereby allowing the turner to use his Sovereign for a whole host of different chisels.

The Sovereign handles and collet system are ideal for quick change from one tool to another. At the same time they enable the turner to lengthen or shorten the tool length. There a several optional extras with the Sovereign System. While the handles are beautifully balanced some turners like a bit of extra weight for control and hence there is a counterweight to fit both handles. For extra control a side handle is also offered. This can be used either on the side or top of the tool in use. For those requiring an even longer handle there is also a threaded coupler which enables the turner to fit two handles together for extra leverage.

Sovereign Collets Adaptors

Collet Adaptors are an optional adaptor that's added to Sovereign Handle to allow you to use a variety of Sorby Sovereign Turning Tools.

A. Tang Collet Adaptor allows traditional tanged and flat tools to safely and securely fit directly into the handle.

B. 1/2" Collet Adaptor allows 1/2" diameter round shanked tools to be fitted into the Robert Sorby sovereign handles.

C. 3/8" Collet Adaptor allows 3/8" diameter round shanked tools to be fitted into the Robert Sorby sovereign handles.

D. 1/4" Collet Adaptor allows 1/4" diameter round shanked tools to be fitted into the Robert Sorby sovereign handles.

Sovereign Side Handle

The Side Handle accessories gives support and control to your Sorby Sovereign Handle. The threaded end simply screws into the threaded opening on the side of the Sovereign handle to maximize command of your tools. Extra control is especially useful for deep hollowing applications. Softex grip dampens vibration and knurled end provides surface grip. The handle is made of aluminum and alloy in combination to give the best of strength, balance and vibration dampening qualities.

Sovereign Counter Weight

Part of Sorby's brilliant handle and interchangeable tool system that allows turners to mix and match a huge range of accessories and matching tooling for an extreme level of versatility, flexibility, and customization never before seen.

Although the handles are beautifully balanced some turners like a bit of extra weight for even more control. This Counterweight gives turners that option. Fits the 12, 16", and 22" Sovereign handles. Weighs approximately 9-1/2 oz.

Sovereign Threaded Coupler

This threaded coupler is an accessory for the Robert Sorby Sovereign Turning Handles. The coupler allows any two Sovereign Handles to be joined together end-to-end for increased length and leverage, useful when roughing out very hard woods or when additional reach is needed. The increased weight also helps counterbalance the tool when heavy chisels are installed in the handle.

Allows you to achieve a turning handle length of up to 44".
